The Netherlands Council for Real Estate Assessment
In short
The Netherlands Council for Real Estate Assessment serves as the oversight agency for the Netherlands regarding the yearly property valuation. The Council supervises the valuation process conducted by municipalities through quality control procedures and the application of standards.
On this page, you will find various documents explaining our strategy, how we conduct quality control procedures and apply standards.
We monitor the quality of the assessment process
The Netherlands Council for Real Estate Assessment wants residents and businesses to be confident that the quality of the valuations of their real estate is good and that the work is done at socially acceptable costs. Therefore, our mission statement reads:
"We monitor the quality of the WOZ execution and improve it where necessary so that everyone can have confidence in it. We do this through independent supervision and by sharing our knowledge and expertise with stakeholders."
Strategy document 2025 till 2030
In our strategy document, the Netherlands Council for Real Estate Assessment outlines the objectives it establishes for the implementation of its legal tasks as a supervisor under the Act for Real Estate Assessment. Each year, this supervision strategy is detailed in a work plan for the respective year. The strategy document spans a period of five years.
We are currently working on our strategy for 2025 to 2030. When this document is released, it will be posted here.
Quality control standards and audits
The Netherlands Council for Real Estate Assessment checks whether municipalities properly implement The Act for Real Estate Assessment (Wet WOZ). The main point of attention is whether the valuations are of sufficient quality. We check the quality of valuations during audits at municipalities or remotely. We also conduct other investigations. For example, whether the data used in the valuations are correct and whether the municipality handles objection correctly and within the time limit.
